Episode 4: Names

Part 1: Elohim

Names are super important! They hold meaning and shape our identity. Just like parents put a lot of thought into naming their kids, God’s name is packed with wisdom about who He is and what He’s about.

Did you know there are over 100 names for God in the Bible? Each one reveals a different side of His character. Did you know there are over 100 names for God in the Bible? Each one reveals a different side of His character. Did you know there are over 100 names for God in the Bible? Each one reveals a different side of His character.

When parents choose names, they really feel the weight of that decision. They look through books and ask family for advice because names aren’t just tags—they represent who we are. Some people become so iconic that we only need to say a single name: Einstein, Jordan, Lincoln. Names tell us a lot about a person's legacy.

The Bible highlights how awesome God’s name is, showing His holiness, power, and the amazing things He does. Each of His names helps us understand His divine nature and inspires us to feel awe and respect.

In Genesis 1:1, we meet the name

Elohim, which means the Almighty Creator. Elohim, which means the Almighty Creator. Elohim, which means the Almighty Creator.

Elohim shows us that God is above all, in control of everything, and deeply involved in His creation. He brings order to chaos and creates humanity in His image, inviting us to find peace in His work.

Ultimately, all of God’s names point to one key name—Jesus. In Him, we see God’s grace, truth, and love. He’s the Word made flesh and the bridge that connects us back to God.

As we think about the power of names, let’s reflect on what God’s name means in our lives. Let’s honor it and seek to know Him better through His names, letting them change our hearts and guide us on our journey.

In Mark 4, we find Jesus and the disciples sailing across the lake. Suddenly, a nasty storm came up and the waves battered the boat. The disciples were freaking out, thinking they were going to capsize and drown. Here is the awesome thing: Jesus was sleeping through all of this. In a panic, the disciples wake Jesus up. Jesus gets up, and calms the storm instantly with 3 simple words, “Peace be still.”

The terrified disciples looked at each other in bewilderment and asked, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

He is Elohim, the ALMIGHTY CREATOR, THE ALL-POWERFUL GOD. He is Elohim, the ALMIGHTY CREATOR, THE ALL-POWERFUL GOD. He is Elohim, the ALMIGHTY CREATOR, THE ALL-POWERFUL GOD.
